• Fun and lovely things ive seen on my 12 hour train ride(s):

    - construction site with a huge disco ball in the middle

    - man on a bike waiting for us to pass while giving us a peace sign the whole time

    - house with a Grateful Dead symbol on the front door

    - People standing in their backyard holding their babies and waving as we pass by

    - people with their dogs and letting them watch the train as it passes

    - reservoirs of water so clear and still we look like we're in the clouds

    - a young construction worker standing on a pile of dirt waving furiously at us all

    - at handful of different bonfires/campfires/etc. once the sun came down

    - large dinners seen through the lit windows of homes

    - a dad helping his little toddler walk up and down the aisles of the train, the two of them giggling the whole way

  • - small child standing in the threshold of his sliding glass door to his backyard staring at the train

    - 2 rottweilers sitting on a bench outside their house howling along to the train's horn

    - a playground full of children staring at the train from the top of the play structure like theyre tiny prisoners

    - hills so covered in the tiniest flower buds they look like theyre blushing

    - A field of workers mooning us and laughing out loud

    - dark dark hills covered in warm yellow lights 💛

    - a rocket getting ready to launch

  • - freight train workers late at night standing on the end of the freight train watching us pass by

    - the smallest train station ive ever seen (one small hut with 2 benches inside) in New Mexico with 2 guys in big cowboy hats hugging goodbye as one gets on the train and the other gets back in his extremely dusty truck

    - young guy painting a large and beautiful mural of the Virgin Mary on the side of a building

    - a lady running outside with an insulated rolling bag while at a long stop as the conductor excitedly called over the intercom: "the burrito lady is here! Quick, everyone run outside and buy a burrito, I'm giving you 5 minutes!"

    - the conductor going out and getting a burrito for free but buying more anyway

    - a little Prada store (?) in what is quite literally the middle of nowhere, Texas?????? (Apparently an art installation!)

    - 2 people sitting outside of a little bar in a small town in Texas, with their dog, talking and watching the train for the duration of our stop

    - groups of girls playing softball (one on a college field in their uniforms, and another right next to it in a normal park field in random street clothes), both stopping their games to wave

    - a bull standing right next to the train, full facing us, calmly looking on

    - people on scenic walks, people heading into work, people heading down to their mailbox, all stopping to wave hi at us

    - 2 dogs and a cat trotting happily down the road towards their little farmhouse (*very* Homeward Bound)

    - people waving kids waving adults waving!!!! 💗 from cars and houses and playgrounds and work and intersections!!!!

  • -mother smiling at her small child as they try to run after the train

    - guy skateboarding down the street

    - quite literally in the middle of farms and work yards, a large tent with paper lanterns and string lights hung up, as if made pretty for an event

    - Halloween decorations still up

    - man grilling outside

    - Christmas decorations up now

    - the disco ball in the work yard is broken now

-Grateful Dead door is still there

    - a man waiting patiently, giving us a thumbs up

    - another man in his work truck, leaning his arm on his open window and his head in his hand, clearly delayed by trains pretty often

    - the leaves changing

    - backyard with a hammock that says Honduras

    - the most beautiful neighborhoods you can imagine

    - someone in the window of their house, filming the train go by

    - a pug in the front yard, right up against the fence, staring so intently

    - all the people who wave at the train by nature of it being a train going by, and then the ones who wave on instinct when they see someone waving inside

    - small hand built shack that has a little painted sign that says Slim Pickens

    - lit Christmas trees in windows

    - a handmade, hand-painted dormer (?) on top of a house

    - the back of some kind of set

    - a small child in a little car stroller, waiting with mom at the corner of the neighborhood, waving with a loose fist the way small children tentatively do

  • Literally what have I done why did I do that???

  • Got nominated for an award at work, have to send in a picture of myself for them to present at a big gala, sent in a picture and she’s like: “It’s too dark got anything else?”, looking at pictures of myself and zooming in like: wanna see how yellow my teeth are? wanna see how the light falls on my face in a fucked up way? wanna see evidence of how I stopped wearing my retainer? wanna see all the bags under my eyes? wanna see how frizzy my hair is? I can’t even guarantee that you’re looking at a happy person when you look at these. It’s not a woman is it even a girl I don’t know what that is.
